William Noy SECCOMBE
• Occupation. On 1851 census, Penzance, Elizabeth, 57, is living with her daughter and son-in-law (Elizabeth & John Potter) at Adelaide Street. There is a note recorded on the Census form. "Her husband's name was William Seccombe he was a carpenter, he left the country 27 years ago and went to Peru. It is not known here whether he is alive or dead, although recently reported to be alive". Possible he went out to Peru with the Pasco-Peruvian Mining Co. in the first great wave of mining migration in 1824. William married Elizabeth Hambly HUNTER, daughter of William HUNTER and Mary HAMBLY, on 27 Dec 1813 in Redruth CON. (Elizabeth Hambly HUNTER was christened on 24 Jun 1792 in Redruth CON and died after 1851.) |
