Thomas JENNINGS

  Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: emigrated 1849 to Michigan. Later lived Brady's Bend area Pennsylvania from about 1856. Thomas Henry Jennings and his wife Elizabeth Carkeek are the progenitors of another band of Jennings that has thrived in the United States. Thomas Jennings is believed to have been a cousin of Jane Jennings Mildren, being a son of Thomas and Ann Hambly Jennings, and he came to the U.S. about 1850 and worked in the mines near Octonagan, Michigan on the north shore of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, which was where a number of Cornish miners had found work. After several years of hard winters the family relocated to Brady's Bend, Pennsylvania where a large group of relatives from Cornwall had already assembled. Thomas Jennings operated a hotel in Queenstown until his death in 1867, which was later operated by his daughter Alice and her husband Charles Giles. After the death of both Jennings parents, Jacob L. Mildren Sr. was named the guardian of Anne J. Jennings, who later became the wife of his son William James Mildren. Thomas and Elizabeth Carkeek Jennings had eight children.

Thomas married Elizabeth CARKEEK on 28 Nov 1835 in Gwinear CON. (Elizabeth CARKEEK was born in 1814 in CON and died on 24 Jan 1858 in Queenstown PA USA.)
