Circumstance: Marrying in haste. Our distant cousin Alfred Moody is shown living at home in the census, aged 21, unmarried. In the same town, Alma Barrett is living with her parents, aged 20, also unmarried. What you don't know is that they had married two years before and had a baby girl, Nellie. The couple evidently reunited as five years later they began having children again, and ended up the respected headmaster and his wife of Bonsall Grammar School, Derbyshire.
