Joseph BARNETT

  Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: of High Green Troutbeck 1841 and of Osmotherley Lancashire 1851 hind to farm 50 acres; described as weaver at daughter Tamar's marriage 1843; occupation given as weaver and farmer at Tamar's baptism in 1822. Joseph BARNETT b. 1770 Westmorland m. Elizabeth (Betty) b. 1780 Westmorland. From 1841 census of Troutbeck (BAR001). These were the only Barnetts found and are the right age and place for Ann's parents. He was a weaver. In 1822 baptism record of last child, Thamar, trade is given as weaver and farmer.
Joseph Barnett appears as a farmer in Troutbeck, residing at Nook, in the 1829 Parson & White Directory (BAR002). In 1828 he was one of two church wardens who signed the bishop's transcripts. The spelling of his name in this signature (with two t's) is taken as the correct spelling, even though most of his children's baptismal records have only one 't'.

Joseph married Betty before 1800. (Betty was born about 1779 in Troutbeck WES and died in 1851 in LAN.)
