• Occupation: in 1891 cousin William Barton of Calgarth; will witnessed by William Sproat joiner (married to cousin Annabella Lancaster); occupation: hind (bailiff).

• Occupation: 1881 bailiff Calgarth Farm; 1891 of Calgarth Park Farm; left 2 gravespaces at Windermere Cemetery.

Samuel married Elizabeth 'Betsy' AIREY, daughter of John AIREY and Ann BARNETT, on 11 Sep 1847 in Windermere, Westmorland. (Elizabeth 'Betsy' AIREY was christened on 9 Oct 1824 in Cartmel, Lancashire and died in 1904 in Liverpool, Lancashire.)
